Trees

I have always loved tree branches without leaves. Especially if they are wet and dark. I have tried many times to capture what I love about them with paint, pencil, chalk, pen, charcoal and I could never quite get it right.
Photography lets me capture the beauty.
I love all the intersecting lines.

I look at them sometimes and compare them to people.

Some are crooked and some are straight.

Some are bold and some are dainty.

Tall and wispy.

Standing back let the blue sky show.

It's almost as if it is leaning down to get a drink.

Spring special!

April is beginning with a super exciting time for me as a photographer. I have secured a beautiful, natural light studio to shoot out of. I am in love with the space and the light and can't wait to start making beautiful images there.

I will still offer on location and outdoor photos, too. The studio is in an area of North East Minneapolis that has many cool spots within walking distance for great photo shoots.

Seniors graduating in 2014, it is time for you to book your photo sessions! Contact me and we will get something scheduled.
Families, couples, kids give me a call I would love to take your photos.

I have been doing a lot of modern day glamour shots. Nothing like the fake "glamour shots" of the 80's!

These photos are real and really let the inner beauty of the woman shine.

I am running a spring special! Mention the special when you contact me and we will get together and make some awesome photos.

Happy Spring everyone!

March is here!

It's March, so we are on the downward slope of winter! Although, we are expecting a foot of snow in the next couple of days here in Minnesota. That does not seem so daunting knowing that Spring is around the corner and winter can only last so long.

Recently, I was lucky enough to have my beautiful friend and fellow photographer, Mackenzie, model for me.
I am running a promotion this month and I would for to take photos of you or a special someone that you know.

Lowry Bridge

For several years, the Lowry bridge near our house has been "out". They were replacing the entire bridge for safety reasons and as the months wore on it seemed like it was never going to be finished. Finally, last fall the new bridge was opened and Northeast Minneapolis and North Minneapolis were once again connected.
I have to say that it is one beautiful bridge. I went and checked it out recently. My main goal was to get a photo of the Minneapolis skyline, but the bridge it's self is pretty photogenic, too.

The skyline of the city is so hard to capture. It's tough to find a spot where there are not obstructions, but I believe the Lowry bridge provides one of the best spots to see our beautiful city.

The Mississippi River is rather beautiful with the water being partially being frozen, too.

Pops of color

I love walking around our neighborhood and looking for interesting things. Some pops of color during this dreary season.
It helps that our little dog LOVES to walk. So much so that we can't even say the word, walk, or she goes ballistic and jumps literally 2 feet straight up in the air about ten times. It's so funny to see her get so excited.
Recently it has been so cold, that we haven't been able to go exploring. Since she is so tiny, even with a sweater she gets too cold too fast.
These photos were taken on my last solo neighborhood stroll.

Demolished

The city tore down an abandoned house behind our house a few days ago. Our neighborhood has been complaining for years and we are all so glad to see it go.

As you can guess, an abandoned house really gets rundown fast. Many times there were unsavory people crawling in and out of broken windows and in and out of knocked down doors.

Raccoon and other varmints had also been making them selves at home. Those would not have bothered us too much, except that last summer they were night thieves of our garden produce! Meme, our dog, loved to bark at them when they were up in trees behind our garage. They were bigger than she was so if they got too close she wasn't nearly as tough as she pretended.

(insert phone photo of the world's most adorable dog!)

Sunday

Today, Greg and I walked along St. Anthony Main which isn't too far from our house. I love walking along the river.

Even if  it was much colder than I thought it was, it was actually a beautiful sunny day. Many people were out jogging and walking their dogs.

I googled this massive, historic Pillsbury building and according to this article it was built in 1860 and has been vacant for some time. Sounds like it will be turned into some apartments soon. That would be so cool. I would hate to see this old piece of history torn down.
